 Our premier release of varietal Merlot, the 2001 vintage set the benchmark for Napa Valley Merlot. Only 66 cases produced.Tasted 4-7-2009 - The 2001 Titus Merlot exhibits a deep ruby core that shows its age with its brick red rim. The nose is pronounced with evolving notes of leather, spice, plum, cherry, cinnamon, clove, candied fruit, and espresso. It continues to hold a youthful structure with bright flavors of candied red fruit, elegant oak spices, toast, walnut, and vanilla. The wine's big structure makes it a great pairing wine with all grilled foods and we recommend decanting the 2001 Merlot for an hour or so before drinking.
